KATHRYN RUSSELL ANNOUNCES RUN FOR FIRST SELECTWOMAN SEAT IN DEEP RIVER

Kathryn Russell is running for Deep River’s First Selectwoman in the November 4, 2025,

municipal election. Russell is endorsed by the Deep River Republican Town Committee and

currently serves as Selectman on the Deep River Board of Selectmen.

Russell enters the race as the current Selectman who has demonstrated true leadership in her role serving Deep River. She has been instrumental in generating revenue for the town’s

taxpayers to lessen their property tax burden, in creating a plan to maintain and preserve the

town’s assets and helping to foster bipartisan work for our local boards and commissions.

Russell is an experienced business executive who has held leadership roles in Fortune 100

companies. She holds a BA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Wharton School of Business. If elected, she promises to use her common sense, municipal experience and business acumen skills to:

  • Lower costs and grow revenues

  • Achieve a practical solution to the regionalization of Tri-Town elementary schools

  • Address the rampant issue of Speeding

  • Foster a business-friendly environment

  • Deliver responsive, timely decisions

“My goal is to make Deep River affordable for families and retirees.” says Russell

Russell is running with Selectman Candidate Cynthia Torres, a public safety professional,

currently Deep River’s Director of Emergency Management and serving on the Deep River

Board of Finance. Together they lead a strong slate of candidates, deep in professional

experience, real skills, civic engagement and love of Deep River.

Russell comes from a significant Deep River heritage as the niece of Emy and Reynold Marvin. Emy Marvin served Deep River as Selectwoman for three terms in the 1980s and was a driving force behind the renovation of the Deep River Town Hall. The Marvin family donated Marvin Field the quintessential space in the center of Town where the horseshoe tournaments are played and so many community events are held.

Russell encourages voters to “Choose an experienced leader who listens, makes timely

decisions and delivers real results.”
